THE Boholistic Mom
Country Girls Creamery— Ordered a cow here last year and have visited their farm a few times. Their beef is grass fed organic unless you specifically request otherwise. They will tell you the turn around time is longer because they would have to start the cow on grain specifically for you. I love their milks and cheeses too.
I am going to have to do more research on Country Girls Creamery. One of my friends who is also with the Weston A. Price Foundation spent a little time checking them out and found conflicting information on whether they fed the cows GMO soy. I do know that they are not certified organic. I need to go ahead and drive out there sometime to ask some good questions!
Have you heard anything about Wellness Within in Gulfport? Dr. Rodriguez is a functional medicine doctor. I’m not sure how crunchy she is yet.
Also curious about your opinion on Doctors Nutrition in Gulfport and Country Girl Creamery in Lumberton.
I had not heard of Wellness Within, but I checked them out after you mentioned them. After looking through some of her posts on Facebook, I am liking a lot of what I see. I’d love to sit down with her and see what her views are on a few crunchy topics, but she’s definitely an improvement in mentality for the coast!!!
I like Doctor’s Nutrition for their perspective as well. They are definitely an alternative health option on the coast. They offer MTHFR tests, look over hormone panels to explain them, and will sit down and help people work out a plan for improving their overall health. These are all great things. They also carry methylated folate which is so important for fertility and pregnant mamas.
Country Girls Creamery is definitely the best place to get milk on the Mississippi gulf coast at this time considering our only other choice is overly pasteurized homogenized milk from the grocery store. However, I am unsure of their feed practices. I need to do more research since I’ve heard conflicting stories about whether they use GMO feed, some say yes, some say no. In addition, I prefer raw milk even to non-homogenized lightly pasteurized milk. I wish we could get it on the coast! I know of a source in Pensacola and I’m considering traveling once a month to pick up milk to bring back to the coast.
What about the farmers market in Biloxi on Tuesday afternoons?
Yup, got that one!
Charles R. Hegwood Farmers Market
I think a lot of people know about it, but no one knows its very long, complicated name 😉
