How Heavy Metals Changed My Life – Part 2

How Heavy Metals Changed My Life

After listening to –>Leah’s story, I thought about my own story.  In high school, I was that person who popped up out of bed at the first sound of my alarm.  I had unending energy.  Consequently, I received a few vaccines on my way to college and I thought nothing of it.  I wish I had known then that vaccinations contain heavy metals that collect in the body.  At that point, I still had plenty of energy and did many of the things I planned to do.  In essence, this was my “before” era.

After college, I had more vaccinations before going to South Africa for a missions trip.  I abided by the suggested shot schedule from the CDC.  I had no idea at the time that I only needed the vaccinations that were required by South Africa, not those suggested by the CDC.  In South Africa, my energy was definitely lower.  I did many of the things I needed to do, but it began to be a struggle.  While overseas, I was sick about half of the time.  I loved my time there and I gave every bit of energy I had, but I had so much less of it to give.

I began to eat more fish following my college years.  Indiscriminately, I ate fish.  I did not know from where my fish came and I had no idea that eating certain fish could lead to heavy metal toxicity.  Most farmed fish are contaminated with heavy metals and some ocean fish.

After my trip to South Africa, I married.  During this time of my life, I became a lot less productive.  I had multiple jobs, but less energy.  While […]

Fertility Health Check – How healthy are you?

Download a health check at Boholistic Mom

As I have studied and explored the world of fertility health, one thing I have realized is that many women have no idea what factors in their lives could impact their fertility.  Many times when we realize that we are having fertility difficulties, we run to the doctor to be officially diagnosed as “infertile.”  What if before the two year point, women had the opportunity to take an objective look at their fertility health and begin to intentionally make changes to their own health to improve their fertility?

This is my mini mission.

My mini mission is to help women before they have received an official diagnosis to improve their fertility by analyzing their own health and making powerful choices for their own body.

My long-term mission is to help women who have a fertility imbalance (who are often diagnosed as “infertile”) to feel empowered to make informed choices toward improving their fertility.

Fertility Resource

The resource I have today is extremely useful for both sets of women.  The Fertility Health Check will help you to think through factors that are impacting your health.  By following the instructions in the health check, you can analyze where you are at with your health and where you can work to improve your health.

Steps to Download this PDF

I cannot stand websites that force me to sign up for their e-mail list in order to download a PDF.  You may want my resource, but not desire to be signed up for yet another e-mail list.  Therefore, I simply ask that you consider following at least three steps below, but I’m leaving it up to you.  I want you to love me for me, not for my resources 😉

Fertility Journey – Begin Moving Forward Here

This may sound strange in the context of fertility, but I want to congratulate you for beginning your fertility journey.  No matter where you are in your awareness of your body and whether you have been labeled with infertility or more information on fertility, you are taking a monumental step toward reproductive health by declaring that you are in charge of your fertility.  My goal is for you to know how your body works, make informed decisions, and take the steps that you desire toward having the fertility you want.  Is it possible?  In many cases, absolutely yes.

Begin Your Fertility Journey Here --> www.boholisticmom.com/main

You are in charge of your fertility journey

There is a reason that the most popular book on fertility is titled “Taking Charge of your Fertility.”  You desperately need to be put back in charge of your fertility.  In a day and age when hospitals reign supreme and doctors are considered the be-all and end-all of your health, women have had their powers removed.  The second you question your body’s fertility, you are laid flat on your back and subject to tests and told your options.  The options provided normally consist of medical procedures and ongoing medical tests.  By putting you back in charge of your fertility, I hope to help you to own your body again.

I want you to feel like a powerful woman again.  This is the first step to fertility.

A powerful woman who can make decisions for her own body can change everything.  You are no longer desperate and without hope.  You are confident and you are deliberate.  You are no longer subject to one person’s list of options . . . you […]

What Does the Bible Say about Modesty?

This post is actually a troubleshooting post for my post titled “What Does the Bible Say about Boobs? over at Blissful Moments Doula.  You can find that post >here<.  I know many ladies will have so many questions about the assertions that I made, but many of those have to do with modesty rather than the Biblical passages on breasts.  So I decided I would continue the discussion here on my blog.

What Does the Bible Say about Modesty?

I’m sure many of you have read the post on “What Does the Bible Say About Boobs?” and have come up with many rebuttals.  I will attempt to address the most frequently asked questions here.

Modesty and the Bible

Modesty in I Timothy 2:9

In the New Testament, we often see I Timothy 2:9 as the ultimate verse relating to modestly.  Why is this verse used so often?  Because the Greek word for modesty is only used twice in the New Testament.  Both times they appear in Timothy and the other one is most often interpreted as ‘respectable’ or ‘good behavior.’  The Hebrew word for modesty is also less about external appearance and dress, but rather about humility.  Tsana (or צָנַע) is to be humble, be modest, be lowly.  Biblical modesty had to do with being humble and modest in heart (Proverbs 11:2).

It isn’t just the word modesty that has been used mistakenly throughout the years of our Biblical heritage.  The entire verse is most often pulled out of context.  Read I Timothy 2:1-10 for the full context, I’ll summarize below.

In the first verse, we are talking about the four basic kinds of prayers that we are called to pray for all people.  […]

Excerpt from a review about VAXXED that I wrote for Blissful Moments Doula blog today:

“First of all, why would we cover a movie review of VAXXED: From Cover Up to Catastrophe on a doula blog?  Because every single mother has to make the decision about vaccinations for their child: whether they want them all, whether they want to space them out, whether they want the particular ingredients, and, most importantly, mothers need to know their options.  This movie is vital information for every mother who wants more information about the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine and more understanding of the vaccine industry that creates the vaccines.

VAXXED is an expose regarding the CDC and the MMR vaccination . . .

Mississippi State Capitol and VaxxedVAXXED at the Capitol

I was able to go to the Mississippi State Capitol this week and rally with the VAXXED van and other amazing Mississippi mothers and dads whose lives have been forever affected by vaccine injury.  Many of my social media friends have asked how I know that the van is full of vaccine injured children.  Do you as a parent know your child?  Did you know them when they were younger, did you see them grow over the years?  What if at one moment in your child’s development everything stopped.  They stopped mentally developing.  They regressed.  They had been walking and now they are falling on the ground and cannot speak at all.  Would you notice?  Would you immediately look at what had changed in your child’s life?

These parents did […]

Redeeming My Birth Story After Trauma

my birth story

In June of 2014, I shared my birth story with my Boholistic Mom readers.  My post called Modern Childbirth: My Story detailed my story of pregnancy and labor for my child.  Writing out my story was both healing for me and liberating.  I wasn’t hiding the pain, the fear, and the disappointment anymore.

Now, two years later, I need to write a new story.  Did you know that you can actually rewrite your own birth story?  We can’t undo the past, but we have the power to change how we viewed what happened.  By God’s grace, our minds are capable of looking at our birth in a new way.

Today, I’m going to write my story from the view of a doula.  If I were a doula, what would I have been telling myself during this pregnancy and childbirth?  How would I have been encouraging myself?  How would I have been keeping myself informed and empowered?  How can I now take back my birth in light of all that I now know about childbirth?

Rewriting My Birth

Join me as I rewrite my birth.

Preggo me: “Childbirth is pretty straightforward.  You do the deed, you grow a big belly, and you have a baby 9 months later.  I know childbirth is painful, but women have been having babies forever, how could it go wrong?”

Doula me: “While we hope that every pregnancy will go as planned and be as easy as possible, every birth is unique.  Each delivery is a new experience.”

Preggo me: “Oh my word!  My water broke while I was going to the bathroom!  I don’t know what to do!  I was supposed to go into work and my husband is away at a class.  It’s […]

Why are my pads a medical device according to the FDA?

Our Common Thread

Every woman over the age of 14 has something in common.  We all have monthly cycles.  Most of us wouldn’t consider it glamorous, but most of us also wouldn’t describe it as a medical problem.  Our bodies are not malfunctioning when they begin their cycle each month with a cleansing.  We aren’t broken and medically in need of a fix.  Or are we?

Medical Problem?

According to the FDA of the United States of America, women are in need of a monthly medical device for dealing with their period.  According to the FDA, we have a medical problem that needs a medical solution.  Don’t agree?  Neither do I.

A menstrual pad is a medical device?

After attempting to buy my favorite brand of cloth pads off of Etsy (LillyaPads), I found out a new regulation that has been slipped into FDA playbook without the awareness of the women of America.  In the 1990’s, the FDA decided to begin regulating menstrual pads by calling them “medical devices.”  Did you know that you were using a medical device when you were wearing a pad?

Cloth Menstrual Pads and FDA Regulation

Regardless of the concern the FDA may have about the plastic chemical-laden menstrual products on the market, cloth menstrual pads have been used by women for centuries.  They are literally a piece of cloth.  In 2014, the FDA decided to begin regulating cloth menstrual pads by having all of the small businesses who made cloth reusable menstrual pads begin to pay a yearly registration fee of $3,646.  In 2015, the registration fee for the upcoming 2016 year increased to […]

The Late Cycle | Boholistic Mom

The Late Cycle

The Late Cycle | Boholistic Mom

It’s 30 days today and no visitor.

Last month, it came at 29 days.

There’s always a chance . . .

No positive.

Two months ago it came at 31 days.

It’s 32 days now . . .

I try another test.

No positive.

Another day.

Another day.

Another day.

It’s 35 days today and no visitor.

I’m bloated.

I’m so tired.

I’m too tender.

Maybe today?

No positive.

Surely, I must be.

It’s 39 days.

I haven’t waited this long in a while.

And yet, I’ve been waiting six years.

It’s 40 days.

Oh no.

A spot.

It’s 41 days.

It’s over.

No more thoughts of little booties.

No more hopes of little giggles.

My heart is rent again.

Lord,

Today, I am giving You my pain.

I am giving You my womb.

I am offering You my suffering

as a way to bring You glory.

This may not be the last disappointment,

but regardless, I will trust in You.

You will be my God.

Take this breaking heart of mine

and make it whole

like only you can.

Please, don’t think this is a plea for sympathy.  My desire is for other women to understand the emotions involved […]

The Faint Line on the Pregnancy Test

The Faint Line | Boholistic Mom

Many times I have brushed this experience off as wishful thinking.  Only who would ever wish the pain that I have felt over the years remembering that day?

Just a Faint Line

I lived in Gulfport, MS at the time.  I had a three year old beautiful boy.  I had an internship at a wonderful church.  I had a husband who went to work and hurried to come home to me each day.  It was a rich time in our lives.

Having had one child, we hoped to have two children.  At least.  We had been trying almost two years, but we weren’t really worried.  These things take time, right?

Each month came and I hoped and I wished and I became excited.  This will be the month!  Surely!

Each month left and my hopes were dashed.  At times, I felt almost a depression.

Then . . . one month I was late, so I took a pregnancy test.

It was a faint line, but it was a line!  I took a picture of it just to prove to myself that it was really a line.

But when it is that faint of a line, you wait.  You don’t rush into the doctor.  You wait a few days and you take another test.  I waited a day.  Maybe two.

My period came instead.

I went to the doctor to ask them what had happened.  They didn’t say.  They just shrugged it off.  They made me feel small and insignificant.  And most of all, they didn’t bother explaining anything.  Rather than giving me what I needed, they just pushed me away and avoided the entire situation.

I asked around to those friends I […]

How to Discipline Your Child

Last week, I had the opportunity to go to a Mommy’s Drop-In with my church and hear a seasoned mother speak on discipline.  Can I just tell you that before this point I had never been taught specifically how to discipline my child by a mother who has children who are grown up and have chosen to continue their walk with the Lord?

I had been given tips.  Oh, so many tips.  By new mothers, by mothers with young kids, by mothers with teenagers, by mothers with older kids, and finally, I’d been given a few tips from seasoned mothers who emulated Christ to their children and their children chose to follow after Christ.  How do we make sense of all these tips?

Then there are books.  Oh, so many books.  Some books say to spank your children, some books say not to spank your children.  Some books say give your children choices in order to avoid conflict, some books say your job is to be their parent not their friend, so bring on the conflict!  I’m not sure about you, but I get some mixed messages from both Christian parenting books and the rest of the parenting books.  Why can’t they agree?

After hearing this amazing woman of Christ teach about discipline, I don’t feel confused any more.  I feel that the Bible is clear on how we are to raise up our children.  We too often look to momma tips or to books for the answers of how to discipline and we don’t go to God’s Word.  Let me spend some time taking you through what my new wise friend, Toma, shared last week.

Discipline is consistent and continual. […]
